Yes it is still early days before the masses have got it, which your friend just proved, but the more we keep using and building on top of it the closer we get to a point where it can't just be ignored by anyone anymore, and yes fast transactions is one of the benefits, even the slow Bitcoin is fast compared to the banks lol, stay awesome.
