Doing too many things and lack of focus

I’ve been very active over the last few month’s. Mostly because I started a second account to show that you can be an investor on hive without putting in your own money.

Whereas for my first account I do not post much more than my actifit report, my second account is an account where I post quality content and I had been trying to post daily.

This has meant that I had to do all the other related stuff throughout the day, often adding up to far too much time. Like several hours per day and it has started to feel a bit like work.

A very common thing for me is that I do a lot of things at the same time. Regularly I have to take a step back. Realize what’s important and make changes to my focus and allocation of my time.

Since I am happily married and about to become a father in the next month, I realized that I cannot keep going at the pace I’m going without some adjustments.

So, I will no longer keep pushing for a daily post. I will take it easy. When I don’t feel like writing, then I won’t. Also I will make some changes towards more passive growth of my account.

A big part of that is dcity. The growth I see there is phenomenal. But I won’t optimize my two dcities daily.

Two accounts means that I get a lot of tokens for my posts that require staking/selling/exchanging. I will stop doing that daily and shift it to a more slow pace. Not everything needs maximum efficiency all the time.

I’m trading a bit on ionomy between hive and btc. Since this is quite profitable so far and I need to sell my blurt power down tokens as well, this is something that I will keep doing.

Setting up some sell/buy orders is not that time consuming. Trades on ionomy are quite slow anyway and because I like both btc and hive, I don’t need to check it constantly.

I will also continue using the community app from SwissBorg to daily predict the price of bitcoin, since that has already given me $70 worth of CHSB tokens so far.

If you like to ran crypto for free by predicting the price of btc, then try the SwissBorg app :) Use my reference code VBGYM4Y to signup at https://www.swissborg.com/community-app-referral

You can’t get those tokens out immediately though. I assume you get them once the competition ends somewhere in spring next year.

I will keep using the coinpot faucets, since they provide good value. The first withdrawal is already earning interest for me on the Celsius network and the next withdrawal will come soon. You can read more about that in this post: https://peakd.com/ctp/@invest4free/the-lazy-man-faucet-wait-longer-get-more

But yeah, actively posting, optimizing hive-engine tokens, using faucets, optimizing two dcities , trading on ionomy, predicting the price of btc and engaging with people on hive...

It is all a bit much...

So I’ve decided I won’t be trying to get some money out of blurt, I will simply delegate the remaining steem I have to @tipu and sell all steem rewards I get from that.

The only thing I will definitely keep doing daily is the faucets and the btc price prediction. Since that really only costs me 5 minutes a day.

The rest will be set up for a much more passive approach. And very importantly, I will accept that things won’t be exactly optimized and I might loose out on a bit of growth.

The benefit of this change in behavior being that I get a bit more time to think. A bit more time to relax and be ready to become a dad. One of the most life changing experiences a man can have, so I’ve heard.

How are you making sure you don’t overwork yourself in your activities on hive and in the crypto world? I’d love hear your thoughts. How do you combine hive with your offline life?

You'll have to find your natural rhythm in life so you won't get stressed out 😉👍🏼 Congrats in advance on your parenthood 😊😊 it's an exciting journey all in itself, for sure! I'll still look forward to the occasional dCity guide posts you'll be putting out! Celebrate & enjoy life! Happy weekend!

My dcity update will probably come somewhere next week, rather than today.

Thank you @iamraincrystal. I’m sure it will be good and I will indeed from time to time still post snot dcity.

Good luck with the delivery and congrats in advance from a dad of a one year old. Parenthood is nice but as you said it is extremely time consuming if you do not have helping hands.

The projects you mentioned here are mouthful. It is not easy to blog to be honest. I can feel that as you try to do that daily. I have been posting three posts a day for almost three months. Not to mention, the reading and commenting on other posts. It is quite overwhelming. And, on top of that you are trading and managing dCity with two accounts. It sounds like you are a fulltime Hive employee :P

Goodluck.

Haha, you’re right. It started to feel like I am an employee for my own business indeed.

So, it was time to change things a bit.

Nice you should just set up some auto votes for the various tribes to earn you passive income in that manner. Granted it takes time and money to get it going but once you do the profits are pretty nice. I’m still working out the kinks on mine.

Congrats on being a father! That’s a wonderful time, our son is a few years out from that stage but I remember it well. It’s challenging but I enjoyed it, there’s lots of fun things ahead. Scary and stressful for sure but fun. Take plenty of pictures for it as well, when they get older the pictures tend to slow down.

DCity has been pretty fun so far, I’ve had some good success with my city, I just need to get more population and workers. I got one immigrants card and a homeless so I’m hoping they turn into workers. I bought another first edition and it turned out to be a bank so now I’m in a pretty decent worker deficit. Not sure if I should sell my hotel to buy houses and get my population up. Does population equal workers? Or do I need to get more population and more workers?

Yes, curation runs automatically for me. There is room for improvement, but I see the percentage going up.

I think I’m going to enjoy being a father very much. It’s a big impact on life, but a good one.

Population is the same as workers. So it doesn’t matter if you have only basic homes or only immigrants or hard workers. All of them are population and therefore workforce.

A bank is a nice income boost when it works, but it can get robbed when your crime rate goes up.

Last 30 days the average price for a bank was 2500+ sim so you could sell it instead and get some other cards instead.

A hotel will get you about 1000 sim, so that is indeed also an option.

So I guess I would indeed keep the bank and sell the hotel. Probably to be able to buy luxury homes or basic homes to get more population.

Yay!

Congrats on the upcoming dadhood, and yeah it is important to not overextend ourselves, got a bit of a problem taking on too much myself, but to get things started you have do that yourself and then go for delegating work and more passive income, keep up your good work.

Well, all the best for you then as well in balancing opportunity and energy.

👍🙏

congrats in advance
I did join SwissBorg. sometime back and been doing ok, my success rate is just above 50%.
Thanks for sharing.

Nice to hear, I had 54% correct, but that has now dropped to 52%. The price goes up and down a lot now.

I did reach 25 correct predictions, so that is another 50 CHSB.

I literally live on Hive... lol... So, I'm not counting... But, I do agree with optimizing your time... Doing things that are more profitable, but it can be tricky as you are trying to "predict" what is good and what isn't... I mean, maybe some things are more profitable at this moment, but others are more long-term investment... But all that is a very personal thing...

Congratulations for becoming a dad soon! (I will congratulate once again when the time comes :) )

PS. Isn't better to lease your rest STEEM than to delegate to tipu? or tipu has better rates? (if you are talking about steem?)

Well, on steem delegating to @tipu now gives about 20% apr and tipu is just easier. On hive I wouldn’t do it I think.

I like how it comes in daily and you can stop it anytime you like. Flexibility and convenience.

Some of the time that I create this way, I will use to engage more. Which is going to be more beneficial long term I think.

I noticed that when started prioritizing making blogs, that my engagement went down quite a bit.

Giving some time to yourself and family is a good idea especially when you are going to be father.

Congratulation friend.

Thank you very much 😊

The daily tasks we take on can be overwhelming. It is good that you will be stepping back and figuring out a more efficient way of doing the tasks that will help you out the most. We all need some time for ourselves and for our families, and when your child is born you will have even less time for business. For me I don't have as much going on as you with the multiple accounts, it's enough to keep up with just one. lol I set aside time in the evening everyday to take care of everything I need to do for my business so I am not consumed by it. We all have our own way of taking care of business, we just need to figure out what works best for us.

Yes, well said. Every once in a while I need to realize that I can’t do everything 😉
