I didn't realise all statues had different meanings, but of course, it makes sense.

I wonder if the parables are used in the teachings so the person learning from them is able to make their own mind up about what each lesson means to them, on a personal level? Rather than the indoctrination of some religions, Buddhism is more free-flowing?

the essence of Buddhist teaching is everything is changing.
so they use the parables not to fix meaning. of course it depend on the individuals to accept the meaning
