The Astroturfed Woke Book Industry

I went to a local library recently because I like to peruse the used books for sale or being given away for free. This time there were literally hundreds of woke books being discarded from the library. These books ran the gamut of progressive causes: promoting LGBT rights, feminism, antiracism, activism, protesting, etc. More than half of them were YA and children's books, and all of them were fairly new, less than ten years old. Yet the library had discarded them and were giving them away for free. There were about 300 woke books, most published within the last 5 years. They looked brand new in mint condition as if no one had ever checked them out and read them. In one sense it was a good sign that the library was getting rid of this trash and that nobody was interested in reading it. But why did the library buy all these books in the first place? This is the greater issue.

The progressive movement is largely astroturfed, funded by fake money gained through cronyism. Billions of dollars of government grants are given from progressives to progressives to promote progressivism. Go to a library YA section and see shelves full of LGBT and antiracism books that no one reads. But these woke authors get major publishing deals and then thousands upon thousands of libraries around the country buy their books to make it seem like they’re successful while nobody is actually reading their books. The entire woke book publishing industry is a Ponzi scheme. It looks like grass is naturally growing—that there are so many of these woke books because so many people want to read them—but it’s all astroturf. The truth is there are not enough woke readers to meet the supply of woke books being published.

Imagine if libraries had shelves full of based books funded by based grants. What if YA books taught children based values? Such books would actually become bestsellers because people are starved for that content. The woke publishing gatekeepers are preventing any non-woke books from being published, however; and woke schoolmarm librarians will not purchase based self-published books for their libraries.

The book publishing industry is theoretically beholden to the demands of the free market. If they publish woke books that nobody is interested in reading, they will lose money and be outcompeted by other publishers. But there are two problems with this: 1) There are no other major publishers; they're all converging into a couple of corporations who share the same progressive values. 2) Libraries, NGOs, and progressive activists are able to keep insolvent publishing companies afloat by purchasing woke books in bulk (with taxpayer money) despite there being no demand to read them. Plus they grandfather in successful old white males who write books people actually want to read, such as Stephen King—as long as he says the right things on Twitter. Otherwise they'll even cancel Harry Potter.

The problem with public libraries is there is no market mechanism of supply and demand. Sure, if a certain book is popular, the library will buy more copies of it (such as Dan Brown novels). But if a certain book is unpopular (as these woke books are) that won’t stop libtard librarians from buying more woke books in the future. They’ll just discard the old woke books (that nobody read) from their shelves to make room for more new woke books (that nobody will read). But at least they are supporting woke authors! Aren't I such a good ally? Hence the astroturfed woke publishing Ponzi scheme continues…
