I always show respect, courtesy and am personable with people I deal with. I also show people I'm willing to listen to them. I think this helps people relate to me and they seem happy to work better with me. Butting heads with people, even if I'm right and they're wrong, often leads to troubled waters. Best to show respect, build relationships and move forward from there.
They are definitely the right approaches and you do get a lot of feed back with those attitudes if you know it's not going well you just walk away without butting heads and come back another day maybe depending on the circumstances.
