Very nice. I made a close study of the new introduceyourself entries myself a few weeks back and noted the preponderance of new users from five very poor regions of the world (more than half of all new users.) I took a lot of flack too, for suggesting that Steemit was turning into a "get rich scheme" for the underprivileged. I didn't want to see people given false hope, but I was called everything from an "elitist" to a racist for pointing out that this is not what the platform should be about, and that it would (if continued unabated) end in the END of Steemit and its great potential, for ALL--rich and poor.

I noticed the same thing. An overhwhelming majority of new accounts came from 1 of 3 countries: India (to be expected based on their population), Venezuela (economic crisis), and Nigeria (culture of get rich quick? Haha).
And Aceh Province of Indonesia (devastated by 2012 EQ/tsuanmi) and Bangladesh ad The Philippines. India only very recently started showing up a lot. It was those other five before the last couple weeks.
