RE: The cost of negligence

in #curation7 months ago

A lot I could say about this but without a direction at the authors or posts being curated in what you say is favoritism with content that shouldn't be curated by us compared to others posting in the community would be a good first step to take a look at things rather than beat around the bush and keep talking about everything that's wrong without helping us where to look or what the exact examples are. People can easily create alt accounts as well in case they want to remain anonymous when doing so in fear of getting in someone's "bad list". We'd love to fix what we can but it is difficult to remove the "human" from curation completely, there'll always be some favoritism and friend voting, it's difficult to completely remove that from the curation game but since we reward curators extra to do all these things we'd really want to strive towards the curation being focused on the content, user social activity and engagement towards their posts as those are what's valuable here.

I'm pretty sure people delegating to OCD expect OCD to keep an eye on their curators, not some random users from one of the communities being curated, but okay. I forget most of the times, but a few weeks ago, I started a list anyways. I am running out of space quickly, many posts make the list. Today was a perfect example:

No time for more, but I'll try and prepare something later.

I don't see anything wrong with those accounts getting curated, sure some of them aren't that socially active, and some of them seem to just comment some tribe token issuance but other than that they're not getting that high rewards so I don't really see what the issue is. That last user hadn't even posted in over a month so how is that spam?

I never said it was spam. But isn't OCD supposed to reward the best quality reports, the most engaging ones, etc... in order to promote the tribe. At least, that's what the daily curation report says. Of course, quality can be subjective, but compare these users regularly receiving large OCD upvotes (yes, for most, if not all Actifit reports, a $10 upvote is high, probably more than 10x what most posts get) to many others posting similar or in my opinion far better quality posts and never being rewarded. Literally every reports from that last user are OCD upvoted. And like I said in the past, sometimes it is well deserved, but for sure not all the time.
In one of your own posts, I've seen at least one person commenting about poor quality Actifit posts getting $15 rewards. You can check, except a very few exceptions, any Actifit post getting more than $10, it's an OCD upvote.
Anyways, I am sorry, there is probably something I don't understand, I will stop being a pain in the ass.

No need to apologize, but it's a bit annoying to tackle an issue when you respond to it months at a time.

The community incubation we host gives more power to community leaders and curators, we trust that they're doing what's best for the community and that @mcfarhat is keeping an eye on things.

Yeah, my bad for the months long delays, but I already spend well over an hour at least daily going through the Actifit posts, and I admit, after that, the last thing I want to do is try and report something that I am quite certain should be obvious to anybody following closely the community. But maybe that's where some of the problem lies, I don't think there's many people really following it (I can see many reports, including mine sometimes unfortunately, that get 0 view from both peakd and ecency, regardless of what they are. And I doubt there's much more views from other less used front ends).
Anyways, I said what I had to say multiple times now, so I am done :)
Enjoy your week end!
