News and announcements
We urge all new curators to check out the type of posts resteemed by @curie. Submit only posts that are exceptional and meet all the guidelines. If you're not 100% sure, don't submit - disapproved submissions are costly to your Curation Score.
There's a new tiered system for weekly submission limits. As always, curators will receive submission limits according to their performance the previous week. Now, there will be four tiers.
CS >5, AR >85% - Unlimited submissions
CS >1 to 5 - 15 submissions
CS 0.2 to 1 and new curators - 1-2 submissions
CS <0.2 - 0 submissions

How does one get discovered?

I am new user steemit. I have 25 reputation .I am still learning about curation.Thank.
curie is cool, but I'd like to see the number of people rewarded higher over time, 125 people in a week is a pretty concentrated bunch, hopefully this can scale over time
I'm not sure I agree. If curie goes too wide, then the rewards get diluted. By staying narrower, it gives a higher bar to strive for as well. Quality will rise to the top via systems like this, and 125 people per week means up to 6,500 people given this opportunity per year. Of course some people will get featured more than once, but that's still a very decent number.
There's also no pre-requisite to becoming featured. I was (still am!) very new and my second post after my #introduceyourself was featured. I had very few followers and no real idea how to promote my posts, but thankfully the person I interviewed proved very popular and the post was noticed, spread around and picked up.
What has it taught me? Keep delivering good quality, properly edited, properly researched content and it can happen again. And if it can happen for me under the circumstances it did, it really can happen for anyone else on Steemit.
my point is that the number needs to scale, it is somewhat reasonable right now but if it doesn't increase over time then a smaller and smaller percentage of people are benefiting from it as more people join the platform, meaning a higher and higher percentage of good posts go unrewarded by the thing aiming to reward them, it's obviously a problem if it doesn't increase alongside the number of users.
Well that is an interesting point to consider in the light of recent rapid Steemit membership growth - perhaps there can be a future take on this with tiers based on the data available on each user (and there's a lot - number of followers, account balance, join date, total upvotes their posts have received, etc) and out of that is easier to look at a pool of minnows who could do with some exposure, thus identifying that possible diamond in the rough and giving them their big break.
Somewhere between what @curie does, and the likes of those minnow support initiatives.
A bit of history - Curie started 11 months ago now when there was very limited curation. The idea was to kickstart a curation community. At its peak, Curie was voting on 125 posts per day. Things have changed dramatically since then, and there's no longer the need or voting resources to go wide. So, Curie is just one small entity that makes a few votes a day, in a sea of curators. With time, Curie will scale down, not up. I won't be surprised if in the future there'll no longer be Curie as we know it.
