There's a Serial Killer in Chicago

in #curation6 years ago (edited)

I'm listening to the police scanner right now, wondering what will happen next. Chicago is known as one of the murder capitals of the world right? Right. Except there aren't many serial killers.

This is as cold blooded as it gets. 2 innocent men gunned down execution style, 36 hours apart. No known connection between the two men except they were white and both lived in the same neighborhood.

** Rogers Park is on the city's far north side.** It's close to the Garage. My daughter lived there for 3 years and many good friends and dealers from the market are sitting home petrified there right now. There are streets lined with gorgeous buildings and big trees and fabulous public beaches, in walking distance for many. If I ever lived in the city, this is where it would be.

It seems simple at first. A guy dressed in black walks right up to the first victim, shoots him in the head and walks away. This was 10pm last Friday night. He was a 24 year old man at Loyola Park who played PokemonGo there with a group of friends.

36 hours later in broad daylight,he walks up to a 70 year old man walking his dogs and kills him with one shot.

That was last Sunday morning. The Chicago PD have put out over a minute of him on video. The killer walking up towards this second victim (which you don't see the victim) then him trotting away when he's done. It's chilling. I will link it below. If they can piece together over a minutes worth of video, it makes me believe there's plenty more. There are cameras from the city all over and buildings have their own security and camera. Even motion sensors as you can see below. Video alone should have helped nab him right away.

Why is this more complex than it seems? It had to take careful planning.

These 2 men were not connected in any way.
The same gun was used in both murders.
This area is FULL of video camera.
It was less than 48 hours between the killings.
He knew how to escape, both times, even with cameras.

It is brazen and cold. It's about power and control.

Here's the problem. Being a serial killer is very much like being a drug addict. My brother and I both read a book about 20 years ago called, Whoever Fights Monsters by Robert Ressler.

Ressler interviewed serial murderers like John Wayne Gacy, Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dalmer and more. He was recruited into the FBI's Behavioral Science Unit so they could build psychological profiles that could help catch others in the future.

One thing that ties them all together is that killing is like any addiction. The addict will kill and try to stop, kill again, try to stop. Usually, the killings get closer and closer, which is usually when they are caught. It's when the urge takes over and careful planning stops. This seemed to ramp up pretty fast and if he is indeed a serial murderer, he may have been practicing somewhere else first.

Look at how he's dressed. He's not just in black. It's PLAIN black nothing distinguishable.

There is confusion on what ethnicity he is. First (according to witnesses) it was a black male and the CPD put it as part of the description, then it was gone, no mention of black. Then it was back again. In the photos, it's impossible to tell.

I do know that 95% of the time, a serial killer kills within their own race. If you are white, you kill white people. So it doesn't really make sense he'd be black. BUT, anything is possible.

Sunday morning will be a full 7 days since the last attack we know of. How much longer will he wait or was that it?

The police have been out in full force. Everyone is looking for someone who walks like a duck.

Everyone who's seen it agrees, he walks like a duck and runs like a duck. It's a gait I'd recognize and I can't believe if he is from the area, no one recognizes it. It's that distinctive.

Take a look below and I'll keep you posted. I hope they get him fast but it's already been too long.
