#1: ARMITAGE III [1995]
A great OVA that came out around the same time as the first ghost in the shell film. The similarities are obvious (Female police officer protagonist, Androids, cyberpunk theme) however Armitage is far less cerebral, focusing more on character development and action. However there is also some great philosophical discussion on Artifical Intelligence. CYBERPUNK AF 5 stars.
MAKE SURE YOU WATCH THE 4 EPISODE OVA. Its miles better than the film.

A CGI based anime with arguably horrendous graphics. However the crappiness of the animation somewhat adds to its charm. Very dark story centered around android prostitution. gratuitous philosophical content.CYBERPUNK AF 5 stars.

#3 CYBERCITY OEDO 808[1990]
This one is best enjoyed with the ultra cheese English full of hilarious over the top cursing. This is a fantastic introduction to the OVAs of the 80s. Its over the top content is typical of this era. Great haircuts, A Mohawk and some David Bowie in the labyrinth looking villain. Great music. Do not take this one too seriously, or at all. CYBERPUNK AF 5 stars.

Created by the people responsible for Serial Experiments Lain. This one will confuse you even more. The plot is so thick that I wont even bother trying to explain it. Fantastic music and seriously high quality animation. If you enjoyed SEL you will no doubt enjoy this one also. CYBERPUNK AF 5 stars.

#5 GENOCYBER[1993]
Extreme ultra-violent "guro" cyberpunk anime. This one is not recommended for those with a weak stomach, you have been warned (WATCH IT!). CYBERPUNK AF 5 stars.

I've not seen malice doll before, that one is very interesting and a good display of that era of CG animation. pretty rare to see that especially done so well as this with the english voice over. Genocyber is indeed hard to watch at points but that's what you can expect from the M.D. Geist creator heh
