Hacker Conducts Adult Video Extortion Scheme Don’t Be A Victim.

As Internet users become more aware of cyber threats, perpetrators of cybercrime find new ways to get what they want. Instead of stealing your money, an attacker can convince you to hand it over unintentionally. This new extortion technique works thanks to the hackers who use the passwords of the victims to attract them to distribute money. A Twitter user shared an email that he got that way:

Really clever, I must admit. A couple of other users reported receiving emails of this nature. An interesting fact to keep in mind is that the given passwords are actually old passwords. All recipients of such messages claim that the listed passwords are more than decades old. The attacker does not have the current password, which is something we should be grateful for. As an online user, it is always advisable to change your password after approximately 6 months. Also use tools to verify the strength of the password and guarantee two-factor authentication methods.

Here, the attacker threatens to publicize videos of a sexual nature, which were obtained through the victim's webcam. When, ahem, "have fun," online, it's a good option to cover your webcam with tape or another opaque object. One can never be sure if someone is watching or not. Also, if you ever receive such emails, do not be fooled by that.

Sort:

That's so true, normally these people just to bluff, but if they wouldn't do this it would be wrong nevertheless when anybody give them what they want.

You're just able to rent the silence of an extortioner, but nobody can buy it, so humans should never make themself blackmailable.
