To be honest, I only recently found out about the tech scams that are going on. How does it happen?
These scammers find out your telephone number and the fact that you might not be tech savy.
They call you saying there's a problem with your computer and they lure into letting them access your computer and then they basically have multiple strategies to getting money from you. More often than not they target the elderly, which are not too good with computers.
Then there's ransomware, when your computer gets infected with malware that encrypts your files and you are being asked for ransom (pay a sum in bitcoin or other crypto-currency) to get your files back. This happens a lot lately.
