problems with locks is they only protect the frame. I've seen bikes stripped all the way down to the frame. and everything else gone lol.

You can do something like this and similar with the front wheel too, if you have another one. Which protects the frame and the wheel at the same time.
But your right it isn't full proof but it is a reasonable deterrent.
