RE: JIVE. Musik streamen auf Hive. Eine Skizze – JIVE. Streaming music on Hive. A sketch DE/EN

in #dach3 years ago

Hi. First of all thank you for the very valuable input! I will add that to my list and rework the ideas :)
Today I’ve come up with a few new additions, that might enhance the idea of JIVE.

I’ll get in touch with the teams you mentioned, as soon a tighter idea has crystalized. It would be best to deliver a well rounded concept, before boring the devs with soap bubbles :)

You are absolutely right about the long term, and effort, that this will take. Also the financial part will be tricky! But I firmly believe that once an idea has formed strongly enough, that it will attract all that is necessary. It might take years … but why not? I vigorously enjoy HIVE and believe it could be a great platform on which to build more than just a blogging platform. My gut feeling tells me that HIVE is just at the beginning.

The part about getting listeners, or better so users, is crucial. For that to happen JIVE must be simple and pretty. Although that sounds banal, it is just a fact that an intuitive platform will attract more people. So the work has to be definitely put in to making it easy not just for users, but also for artists/labels. Therefor I’m constantly refining, cutting, trashing and revising the idea until it finds an attractive form. Hopefully with a lot of input from Hivers who wish and hope for something like JIVE to happen.

I also believe that once HIVE.blog has found a way to become more user friendly, it might just explode. There are other contestants that have a more streamlined experience, and nicer appearance, but until now I think HIVE has the most potential for the future of Web.

With Audius I am dabbling around a bit. It looks very promising and has a good appearance. But there are functions missing, that make it more of a Spotify contender, rather than a good allround solution for listeners and creators.

Again thanks for your very valuable input! I’ll revise the idea and update it. It will take a few days to work it out a bit better :)

PS: This is just brainstorming on my part right now. If the idea catches on and better equipped people take it over to bring it to fruition, I’d gladly give into more competent hands. As long as JIVE happens :)

Your most welcome :)
Some time ago I was looking at various Audio platforms in the crypto space. From that round, I concluded: None of them gives the tools for the music listener. Some of these services didn't have a playlist feature for instance. Some of these platforms bring revenue to the artists but not to the listener, which may not support the whole service as well. The listener is the most important aspect of such an audio service. When no listeners, no artists will earn money. To get a larger user base, I think in terms of a huge database of music. But this is a catch22 situation since the low amount of content at the start of the service, hence no interest by many users to actually use the service. I'm always thinking in the lines of: Can the content side be addressed by adding 3rd party content to the platform content. Think of: Building a UI for listeners that is also the frontend for Spotify/TIDAL/Deezer content. Not sure if these services allow that, but when they allow that, include all the content from those services.

Howdy,

Fits of all sorry fo the late reply. The past almost three weeks was a mere rat race and took its toll. I wish I could do Hive full time and develop, but the world is crazy and I have to keep up with the madness :)

But you mention a very important aspect, that I haven't solved yet. BUT looking at the market it seems that time may well play into our hands. I agree with all you said, so I'll just throw this idea in:
Now, that record labels are not that important anymore and are facing a death/transformation phase, it might be the perfect time to really give artists the rights and earns to their music as well the listeners the opportunity to participate financially in that system. It would be a freedom unknown and I think that many artists would jump ship. Also record labels (as far as they want to make money) would profit in this transformation phase, when they release their catalog to the platform. One way or the other they will have to go with the times. They missed the transition to the internet and now are just scrambling with idiotic measures. Personally I believe their politics are harming the music world more than they serve it.

I will have to ponder on that and will pick your brains again on that subject. That sounds like a very important element of the whole idea.

In the next coming days I will write several posts on JIVE and its aspects to hopefully get more and more ideas and input, so that I can start drawing a complete outline to contact developers who might be interested, so that a funding can be started. Although I've been quiet the past three weeks, JIVE has been constantly circling in my brain and I'm even more convinced now that it should happen. So I haven't been sleeping on it :)

So I'll stop rambling now and get back to the drawing board.

Here's a video I watched a few nights ago talking about record labels and the world of today concerning artists. It feels as if Rick Beato is spot on. At least it confirms my understanding of where we are right now. If we manage to get the listeners and artists connected and make them both profit from it, art could possibly be set free and rejuvenated.

So thanks for your valuable input, and if you're interested, here is the video from Rick Beato:

Hear you in a few days with more from JIVE!
