Hello friends of music,
to #DanceWeekend I would like to tell you about a song that always cheers me up. It was released in October 1981 and is called Young Turks.
Young Turks is not about Turkey or its youth. The name comes from the Reformation movement that took place at the beginning of the 20th century in Turkey against the structure of the Ottoman Empire. It was young rebels who wanted to introduce a fundamental reform. In the song the name refers to the young rebels who do it differently than society demands of them.
The title does not appear anywhere in the song, even if it sometimes sounds like that. In the song it's young hearts instead of young turks.
There are two video versions of the song. The first one also plays the story of Billy and Patti as in the song. It is the first Video that has breakdance in it and which was played on MTV:
The secon video version is the one where Rod Stewart is singing over the rooftops of Los Angeles:
From the covers I can mention that from the Belgian singer Pieter Embrechts and the band The New Radio Kings, whereby the original is much better:
Years ago I played GTA San Andreas and this song was available on the in-game radio station K -DST. The song always started when you took a plane. One could see the whole game world from plane accompanied by this song.
"Years ago I played GTA San Andreas and this song was available on the in-game radio station K -DST."
You are not alone with this. I still play it sometimes.
One of the best GTA Episode after the GTA Vice City and one of the best games ever. I have the PS2 version and I also have a GTA San Andreas poster on the wall of one of our rooms. The poster came with the game.
"Young hearts be free tonight. Time is on your side..."
This song definitely/certainly reminds me of GTA San Andreas.
You gave me good, nostalgic feeling with this post!
You gave me even the mood to play the game again, but that is probably mostly (or maybe just alone) comes with the music.
Thank you for taking the time for writing and posting this blog post!
YES!
Somebody that understands me! Roaming the sky in the stolen airplanes with K-DST playing. The voice of Axl Rose as Tommy Smith , the radio host. A real cool game.
Same do I, and the intro of Axl Rose.

Good post. But this is not my capacity to comment, because I lack expert in the music world. Can be counted also I just like music that is opposite to others, for example I prefer to get the music that is not torn by recording company for the sake of popularity. I prefer to hear the sound of traditional music without having to be busy interpreting all its interpretations. But this post is good, it is worth reading because of science.
Thank you for sharing.
Good @alexvan
