Hello to all music lovers,
I have seen that so far I have not write about any DJane. Because today I have a quieter mood myself and I wanted to write about a DJAne I have choosen Ellen Allien. She is one of my favorite producers, even if she is not so well known outside the scene.
Ellen Allien (Ellen Fraatz) was born in 1969 in Berlin. She was in London for one year in 1988 where she discovered electronic music and the taste for it.

habe gesehen das ich bis jetzt über keine DJane berichtet habe. Weil ich heute eher eine ruhigere Stimmung habe und das ich über eine DJAne berichten wollte habe ich Ellen Allien ausgewählt. Sie ist einer meiner Lieblings Produzenten auch wenn sie nicht so bekannt ist außerhalb der Szene.
Ellen Allien (Ellen Fraatz) wurde 1969 in Berlin geboren. Sie war in 1988 für ein Jahr in London unterwegs wo sie die elektronische Musik entdeckte und den Geschmack dafür.
Back from London, she experienced and was part of the upswing of German techno music. At the beginning of the 90s, Ellen Allien was resident in several well-known clubs in Berlin. These were Tresor, E-Werk and Bunker.
She also had her own radio broadcast in 1993 at Kiss FM. In 1995 she founded her own record label named Braincandy. This was not as good as her DJ career and was closed in 1997. In 1999 she opened another record label - BPitch Control Records. Each album or single coming from this record label has a code at the end - BPCXXX where X is a digit.
In 2001, Ellen Allien released her first album - Stadtkind (bpc 021). The first single was released in 1997 and was called Be Wild.

Zurück aus London hat sie den Aufschwung des deutschen Technos erlebt und belebt. Anfang der 90er erwischten Ellen Allien als Residentin in mehrere bekannte Clubs aus Berlin. Diese waren Tresor, E-Werk und Bunker.
Sie hatte auch ihre eigene Radio Sendung in 1993 bei Kiss FM. In 1995 gründete sie ihre eigene Plattenlabel names Braincandy. Diese lief nicht so gut wie ihre DJ Karriere und wurde 1997 geschlossen. Ellen Allien has released 9 albums till now. My favorite is the collaboration with Apparat and the resulting album - Orchestra Of Bubbles (bpc 125) from 2006. My favorite song from the album is Way Out.
Ellen Allien hat 9 Alben bis jetzt veröffentlicht. Mein Favorit ist die Zusammenarbeit mit Apparat und den daraus resultierende Album - Orchestra Of Bubbles (bpc 125) von 2006. Mein Lieblingslied von dem Album ist Way Out.
As is common in the industry, the DJs mix their songs between them. My favorite mix from another DJ is Jet by Paul Kalkbrenner which was released on the aforementioned album.
Wie es üblich in der Branche ist, die DJs mixen ihre Lieder zwischen sich. Mein Lieblingsmix von einem andere DJ ist der von Jet von Paul Kalkbrenner was auf den schon oben erwähnten Album erschienen ist.
Because we are talking about a DJane we have to mention at least one set or a concert. The set from Boiler Room in Berlin I think is good and worth mentioning. You can see clearly that Ellen Allien works with vinyl, which is not so common these days.
Weil wir reden hier von einer DJane müssen wir auch zumindest ein Set oder ein Konzert erwähnen. Der von Boiler Room in Berlin finde ich gut. Man sieht klar das Ellen Allien mit Vinyl arbeitet, was heutzutage nicht mehr so üblich ist.
It took me a little while to listen to all these but I am so glad I did! I totally enjoyed getting a peak into a totally foreign, yet somehow very familiar (at times) music scene. Really nicely curated collection of songs. I enjoyed your perspective and history - it grounded me before I tackled each new song.

I was a big fan of Orchestra of Bubbles, but I haven’t heard any of her other albums - only Apparat/Moderat which I like a lot. Which of her other albums would you recommend?
The last two, LISm and Nost, as albums. I would recommend the sets more as there she shows her master class.
