Hello people !🤚
hello steemit!🤚
🤔Did you know that ...🤔

Vranovs are familiar to mankind for a long time. And their intellect has amazed our ancestors - it's not for nothing that these birds are present in a variety of myths and legends. Usually crows symbolized wisdom, cunning, memory, they were the creators of the world and its destroyers. Raven for their habits and culinary preferences often associated with death, they attributed the ability to escort souls to the afterlife, bring misfortune and death. How justified are such attitudes toward crows? Here are a few interesting facts about their abilities, and maybe your attitude to these birds will change a lot.

  1. Remember friend and foe
In Seattle, on the territory of the college, scientists conducted an interesting experiment. They caught seven crows and just tagged them. The birds were not harmed, they just experienced certain inconveniences and stress. After marking, the birds were released. Yes, a small detail - the scientists who took part in the experiment were in ugly leather masks.
The idea was to check whether birds can remember and then discern the faces of the people who attacked them. After all, an unprepared person can not single out one particular crow in a pack. Ravens coped with the task.
Crows perfectly remember the face masks. They actively resented and attacked people in masks. Moreover, after a while, the whole flock was swooped down to the "villains" in full force. An interesting fact, birds attacked not just people in masks, but people in those masks. That is, they distinguish our faces, can identify the right person in the crowd and can attract their colleagues to the persecution.
By the way, without masks scientists for birds had no interest. It remains to check now, but do birds and good deeds remember as well? Well and at least it is possible to assert with confidence, that memory and observance at ravens is developed perfectly.

  2. Pass the testament to the descendants
Returning to the previous experiment, we should once again emphasize the fact that the crows managed to somehow convey to the relatives the description of their offenders. No, here we can assume that a herd instinct has worked - if one screams about danger and attacks, so will others. But all the same, scientists have established that in crow's croaking there are dialects. "Conversations" of crows from different regions will differ. But whether they have a language, while it is difficult to affirm ....
By the way, it seems that certain information is transmitted from adult crows to their young children.

  3. Recall all
One of the ravens of Odin was Munin (remembering). And it was not for nothing that the crows had an excellent memory. In the Canadian town of Chatham, there was a stoppage of crows on the migration route. Hundreds of thousands of birds occupied the city and surrounding areas. But it was an agricultural area and the surrounding farms were carrying a huge damage - crows badly spoiled the young crops.
People did not like to suffer and started a war. As a result, a victim appeared, exactly one, only one bird per half a million alive. After this incident, Chatham birds flew around. Naturally, there were no other victims in the city and the surrounding area.
There were many such cases. Birds perfectly remember the places and situations that ended with the victims on their side. They avoid these places, even change their migration routes.

  4. Use of improvised materials
We are perfectly able to survive in a comfortable environment. But what about those who are in extreme circumstances? Then life depends on the ability to find the right tool, to figure out how to apply it to save the life of a loved one. But the crows have to solve such problems all the time.
The fact that animals often use different tools are known not only by scientists. Examples of chimpanzees will not surprise anyone. But many birds use sticks to extract from the bark of insects, sea otters with stones help smash clams, even dolphins use tools. Crows are no exception. Scientists installed cameras on them and watched as they deftly get worms with chopsticks. Moreover, crows used hard leaves and herbs as tools to create other more complex instruments!
Scientists to study the abilities of animals carried out many experiments, forcing them to solve situational problems. For example, a group of crows were placed in a cage with a piece of meat. Meat was then hung on a rope, which was fixed on the end of the stick. So the crows easily figured out pulling the rope in turn, until they reached the coveted piece.
There is Aesop's famous fable about how a crow threw stones into the jug to get to the water. It's unlikely that Aesop just came up with this situation. The scientists thought the same and decided to reproduce the events of the fable. And they did it with different ravens four times and received the same results. A crow was placed in a cage, a deep container with water, in which tasty worms floated, and a hill of pebbles. Crows can not get enough worms. The results are amazing - 2 crows on the second attempt managed to find a solution, the rest realized the first time! At the same time, they began to throw not any pebbles, but chose the largest ones. And they threw exactly until the moment when there was an opportunity to pull worms out of the rising water.

  5. The art of planning
And it's not about flying here. Ravens are able to calculate in advance the actions of others and, accordingly, adjust their own. The habit of crows to make reserves is well known to many. Of course, many other animals know how to do this. But the crows went into the art of measures and countermeasures much further. If one crow tries to hide something, then there are several interested observers. Then the first, hiding, pretends to have just buried something, and at this moment hides its goods on its chest between feathers. And quickly flies to another place. Observers pretty quickly crack such tricks, they instantly lose interest in the place of "burial" and follow the real "treasure." These races, competitions in conspiracy can last very long and reach unprecedented proportions.

  6. Masters-opportunists
Crows perfectly learned to use anthropogenic environment for their own purposes. They know that the best way to break nuts is to toss on hard asphalt. Moreover, they throw nuts not just on the ground, but also under the wheels of cars. And calculate the speed of the vehicle. And then they know that it is possible to select a broken nut only with the red light of a traffic light, that cars carry a danger, and in combination with certain external phenomena.
More crows clearly know that you can get food from garbage cans. But usually the tanks are tightly closed, but their contents become available after the arrival of workers and reloading in a garbage truck. So crows perfectly remember the graphics and routes of such equipment and use this knowledge.
