Architects for Virtual Reality (Decentraland)

in #decentraland6 years ago

Would any architects or 3D-designers be interested in building within the Virtual Reality world of Decentraland?

I purchased several parcels within the Decentraland auction, held a few weeks ago. I would like to work with an architect or 3D/VR designer to develop three parcels that I purchased. I’ll retain ownership of the “land”, but I’m hoping an architect/designer will see this as an opportunity to create upon the land as a virtual “business card” for future architectural services.

I want to develop the land. I’m slowly teaching myself coding and VR development, but I already have a full plate.

Imagine that someone sees a virtual building you designed. Upon entering, a message appears, “Building Architect: [your name], at [website address]. VR development by [your name], at [website address].”

I would like to have an agreement for a year: you design the building/space, and have rights to use it for a year. This is flexible: I won’t go less than a year, but maybe this could be a more long-term arrangement (especially if Decentraland really becomes successful). I don’t want to make this a permanent agreement, however, because I’d like to have the flexibility to create new things on the plots. As long as the building stands, you will have advertising. I really want, for whoever designs/develops these lands, to be successful and build a career by standing out in Decentraland. I want this to lead to great things for everyone.

I would really like to have the arrangement created by smart contract; unfortunately, I don’t know how to do that. In fact, that may be another opportunity, for someone with smart contract skills, to have a space upon the land.

Can you imagine: an architecturally-beautiful building with the following for everyone to read: “Architectural Design by [person 1], VR Development by [person 2], and Smart Contract Services provided by [person 3]”?

And, any developments created within the next year (I believe) will really stand out, since the entire Decentraland project is in its infancy. Thanks to the work you do on these three lands... you may find yourself with several offers for your contracted services.

If you’re interested, please just comment on this post, and maybe show some examples of your work (or link to them). My sincere hope is that this becomes a wonderful opportunity for someone who sees the potential: could you imagine, a career developing virtual architecture… literally a career “within” virtual reality... there are no limits to what can be created. I would love to start developing in Decentraland over the next several months.

Best wishes to you all. And thank you for reading!

That is a pretty interesting proposition you have there. However, I still lack of capability to imagine how it is like to work on the project. Perhaps, you can post a more detailed walkthrough on the execution part?

My partners and I just launched an initiative called #archisteem that gather people like you to form a community that aims to make the future a better place (physically and VIRTUALLY!). So I would be glad if you could join us :) Just simply use the tag on your next post for the such related topic and we will drop by to see how we can support.

Cheers and Steem on!

The #archisteem project looks great, I'll definitely be following! I'm not sure if you've heard anything about Decentraland, but it will be a blockchain-based world of Virtual Reality... think Second Life, but without a centralized company in control, and all the virtual "real estate" is owned via smart contracts on the blockchain. There are possibilities that companies will develop storefronts, artists will build galleries, alongside virtual residences, casinos, amusement parks, etc. Definitely look into it!

But anyways, I don't have the architecture background or the VR skills to really develop the parcels that I bought in Decentraland. I'm hoping to find an architect and VR developer who can build something for free- but I'm hoping that there's a real benefit to the architect/developer, as well. Basically, I'm hoping that someone can achieve their architectural vision in Virtual Reality... then use their creation in VR as a springboard for future (paid!) endeavors.

The one thing I'm not sure about is how to set up a "contract" so that the architect/developer and myself are protected and ensure the details of the arrangement are clear. I'm just looking for a win-win situation that's fair for everyone involved. I'd love to have a smart contract set up on the blockchain, but I'm not sure how to do that.

For developing in Decentraland, the project will be based upon a web-based VR editor called A-Frame... there's more info on the Decentraland website and official blog. Hopefully that is a bit of help, but if you have any questions just let me know. And I'll definitely be interested in the #archisteem project!

From how you described, what I can imagine is like an open source sim city but to function like a real world with limited land supply but limitless materials? Haha it’s kinda interrsting. I will have a look on that :) cheer. I look forward to see more sharing of yours about this.
