I don't remember where I heard / saw it but there was some information out there about how Young doesn't actually own the rights to most of his music anymore because he sold it years ago. Spotify wasn't obligated to pull his music if this is true, unless the person or group that actually owns the rights to it felt the same way as Neil.

Sort:  

A lot of recording artists don't own their own music and I wouldn't be surprised if Neil Young had the intellectual authorship rights to his musical creations sold off or contracted to a record label many years ago!
