Jumping into the Steem blockchain can be overwhelming for new Steemians.
The hurdles you need to go through just to get signed up and the potential wait for your account to be approved can be frustrating....
Then you started hearing things like... SBD, Steem Power, Steem and how they are all unique coins / tokens! That will make your head spin...
Don't forget the 'unwritten rules' of Steemit that apparently you should know before you even make one post. And don't forget the bots. And the drama. And the market that goes up and down like a yo-yo....
But then ...You start to figure things out.
You start to engage with the community and learn more of the inner workings of this amazing social platform. You get excited for the possibility and can't wait to share the news with the world about the 'better version of Reddit and Facebook' that you have found.
And then...You discover delegation!
Delegation of Steem Power is one of the most unique and exciting aspects of the blockchain. Essentially you can 'loan' out your Steem Power to projects / accounts that you believe in and that are working to make Steem a better experience for all.
Steem Power is your fuel! And the more you have , the more influence you have on the blockchain. So when you loan it out to others, their influence grows. Please note though, you can take back your delegation at anytime. You never give up ownership of it, you are just loaning it out to help accounts and projects that you believe in increase their influence on the blockchain.
But wait...There's more!
Some of these projects actually reward you for loaning them your Steem Power. Think of it like an interest rate the banks would give you. But better lol While there is no guarantee of returns, I LOVE giving to projects that I believe in and seeing them grow because of it. Plus I can generate some extra SBD from loaning the Steem Power out, it's a win-win!
My ultimate goal is to essentially live off the Steem Power delegation rewards I give out. And while that may not happen anytime soon because I'd need like 500,000 SP lol It's a long term goal...It's a BIG dream :)
I've been here for almost 5 months and I've seen plenty of amazing ideas. However these next projects and initiatives are the ones I'm so excited about and would love to share them with you. I hope you get as excited as I did when I first learned about the potential of delegation n the blockchain....
1. @brandonfrye bot / @minnowfund
I started following Brandon in my first month on the platform and I've watched him create amazing content to help new Steemians get familiar with the blockchain.
And then, he starts an upvote bot!!!!
I supported it on day one and continue to do so because not only is he providing a great service for accounts that want a boost but just recently he developed Minnow Fund. It's a service that's sole purpose is to help new Steemians create and prosper from their content.
One of my favorite projects on Steem and while it's still pretty new, I see huge potential to help many more people on the blockchain.
2. @qurator
I discovered this program on a blog post by a Steemian I have enjoyed following since day one (even though he's been M.I.A. recently..Where are you @flauwy ) Qurator is a membership of sorts that allows it's members to get an upvote from their service but they first must be approved!
Why?
Because only legit, quality content bloggers are accepted into Qurator. And that means only quality content gets the upvote. And while it's debatable what is quality and what is not, they do a great job at 'curating' it and approving legit accounts.
A project that focuses on QUALITY rather than quantity? That's a huge plus for me and seeing their active and extremely helpful community on Discord is icing on the cake. One of the best projects on the blockchain!
3. @dlive24hour
I'm a HUGE fan of @dlive and it's the app on the blockchain that I'm most comfortable using. I believe in live streaming and have used it for my 'off-blockchain' business for almost a decade.
So when I learned about @ericwilson 's plan to create a hub of activity for all the content being created on Dlive, my ears perked up. Dlive24hour is a schedule service that helps put all the amazing content on Dlive in one place.
On top of that, Dlive24hour has big dreams to create a 24 hour channel on Dlive that would essentially become a 'tv station' on the blockchain. Not sure how it's going to work but if you know Eric, you'll know he's resourceful.
A fantastic project that highlights the awesome content of Dlive!
(Note: This project is not affiliated with Dlive directly, it's an initiative created by a user and fan of the platform!)
4. @dlivepromoter
Oh boy, there's that love for Dlive again! 😇
Created by @patrickulrich this project's sole purpose is to create a bot for Dlive content creators and reward them each and every day with some solid upvotes.
I've found that a few of the major bots refuse to allow for votes on the dlive platform, so this caters to one of the BIGGEST communities on Steem.
The streamers!
It's my latest delegation and while it's new, I think there is huge potential for ANYTHING related to Dlive.
(Note: This project is also not affiliated with Dlive directly, it's an initiative created by a user and fan of the platform!)
What are some of your favorite projects that you have delegated to? And please do leave your comments and questions if you have any about the amazing opportunity that delegation on Steem is providing!

I'm so glad we made it on your list of initiatives to delegate to! Thanks for your continued support and letting others know about @minnowfund and how we're helping new Steemians every week. Hope it's okay to leave this.. but here's a post that explains more about us and how you can show your support and earn daily SBD and Steem payouts!

Absolutely! Appreciated. That's a great explanation. A lot better than I did LOL
Thanks! I'm looking forward to seeing who wins our delegation tomorrow. We're growing pretty fast and it won't be long before we'll be able to delegate even more SP per week. :)
Huge! Yeah man, big big potential for Minnow Fund. And a huge win for all new action takers on the blockchain.
@originalworks .As a steemit minnow i find the way you have explained about delegating steem power very insightful. Although I do not have enough steem power at the moment, it makes a lot of sense to delegate steem power, and let it work on autopilot sort of. Thank you for introducing me to @minnowfund
It's a great project. Huge help for newer Steemians. Thanks for the comments and glad it helped!
Any delegating service or project that you think is worth best, cause there is so much information, sometime we are warned to watch for scammers as well, it is very difficult to choose when you are a minnow.
The @brandonfrye / @minnowfund one is fantastic because it is trying to help newer Steemians and give them the best information. That would be my first pick to start.
Jon,
I haven't really dove into delegation yet. I just don't have enough to delegate yet, but I plan to when that time comes.
@minnowfund and @brandonfrye have a great initiative and bot. Love them!
@ericwilson is great peeps too. Always helpful and has a great thing going for streamers.
Yeah man, I didn't start delegating until a few months into Steemit. Wanted to 'understand' it more. And now that I do, I'm hooked LOL
I have my own list of accounts I delegated to. We have @brandonfrye and his @minnowfund in common. I just wish I had more SP so I can spread more!
Yeah that's my goal. To increase my SP so I can increase the delegation across the board. So many cool projects!
I do like DLive since I make videos. I've heard Dtube has more limitations than Dlive. I think I like Dlive more. Thanks for sharing and hope you can live off SP even more in the future.
They both serve unique communities. But I love live streaming so Dlive was a no brainer for me :)
