Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a new service called Dating. This dating service will be one of the features in the Facebook application.
Quoted from Wired, Wednesday (2/5/2018), through the Dating service, users can create separate profiles from their main Facebook account to establish "romantic connections".
Both profiles will not be connected, so friends on Facebook will not be able to see the information listed in Dating.
Later, the Dating user profile will only use the first name and friends who are on Facebook will not appear as potential candidates in the dating service. This makes the existing content on Dating and Facebook not connected.
Dating comes with a special incoming message feature. Unlike Messenger, users can not send photos or links. Dating users can only send text-based messages when chatting for the first time.
Facebook describes this as one of the security advantages of the service.
The company will use a unique algorithm to match users with potential dating partners. This algorithm is based on dating preferences, the same things and mutual friends.
Users will also be able to find romance through Group and Event. For example, when wanting to come to a concert, Dating users can "unlock" the profile, so potential candidates who also want to attend a similar event can see their profile.
Facebook will start testing Dating this year. The social media giant claims it will not use the information available in Dating to target ads.
