Was man beim Aufräumen alles so findet. Früher unentbehrlich.
Heute fast vergessen. Und die ganz jungen kennen es gar nicht mehr.
Ab in die Tonne
1,44 MB passten auf so eine Diskette. Als reiner Text entspricht das etwa dem Umfang eines durchschnittlichen Romans. Aber schon von einen einzigen Bild in der Auflösung einer modernen Kamera wäre so eine Diskette völlig überfordert.
Die heutigen USB Sticks und SD Karten sind den alten Disketten, aber auch CDs und DVDs haushoch überlegen. Ein USB Stick oder eine SD Card von 16 GB, was heute die Untergrenze der Kapazität darstellt, würde problemlos den Inhalt von 11.000 (elftausend) Disketten fassen.
Ich bin gespannt, wo die Reise noch hinget.

1.44 MB could fit on one of these floppy disks. In pure text, that's roughly the size of an average novel. But even just one image at the resolution of a modern camera would completely overwhelm a floppy disk.
Today's USB sticks and SD cards are far superior to old floppy disks, as well as CDs and DVDs. A 16 GB USB stick or SD card, which is now the minimum capacity, could easily hold the contents of 11,000 floppy disks.
I'm curious where the journey will go next.

Ausdrucken und im Leitz-Ordner speichern. Egal, was die Zukunft bringen wird, du weißt genau, wo dein Wissen oder Input zugreifbar ist.
Der ganze Rest ist ein Etwas an beliebiger Stelle im Nichts, von dem du nicht sicher sein kannst, bei Bedarf Zugriff zu haben.
Ohhh.... Wie Schön. Das kannst Du doch nid Wegschmeißen. :-(

Ich darf nur net Sammeln, weil die Messiegefahr bei mir sehr hoch ist. Aber ich kenn andere, die das Feiern.
Sowas wird immer Seltener zu finden sein mit der Zeit. Leider.
Was mich am meisten an den Floppies gestört hat, war, dass sie nicht so zuverlässig waren.

Ich würde die nicht wegschmeissen. Viele Banken arbeiten mit Software aus den 70´ern.
Es könnte sich eine Situation ergeben, bei der die Software die auf deinen Floppys lagert noch benötigt wird. Auch wenn mit den Jahren ein Datenverlust wahrscheinlich erscheint.
Der ein oder andere sucht vielleicht für ein altes Betriebssystem seiner Firma eine Rettungsfloppy mit genau der Software die darauf ist.
