Crossing Cultures Ausstellung Kunsthaus Kaufbeuren

Letzte Woche kam ich durch Kaufbeuren im Allgäu. Ich hatte etwas Zeit und fand eine wunderbare Ausstellung im Kunsthaus Kaufbeuren über die Kunst der Farbholzschnitte. Die Bild und Formensprache der japanischen Farbholzschnitte beeinflusste Ende des 19.Jahrhunderts die Entwicklung der Kunst in Europa. Die Ausstellung zeigt viele wunderbare Exemplare der Epoche in Europa und Japan zwischen 1900 und 1950. Vertreter der europäischen Seite sind unter anderem auch Wassily Kandinsky, Franz Marc, Gabriele Münter und Emil Orlik. Japanische Vertreter sind vekannte Namen wie Yoshida Hiroshi und sein Sohn Yoshida Töshi, Kawase Hasui und andere.

Last week, I passed through Kaufbeuren, a small town in the Allgäu area. The Kunsthaus Kaufbeuren is showing a wonderful exhibition of the art of color woodcuts. The impact of the imagery and form language of Japanese woodcuts had on european artists at the ending of the 19th century is undeniable. The exhibition shows many wonderful examples of the time in Europe and Japan from 1900 to 1950.
You‘ll find artists like Wassily Kandinsky, Franz Marc, Gabriele Münter and Emil Orlik as well as Japanese artist like Yoshida Hiroshi and his son Yashida Töshi, Kawase Hasui and others.
