RE: Changes coming to a community near you !

but getting a downvote leaves such a bigger mark than getting an upvote that it creates constant fights

I am not convinced this is the reason. I think a lot of the issue is due to lack of education on how the reward pool works before people are onboarded.

Some people say downvotes are an attack on free speech while still posting for rewards so their rating gets nuked. I think that is an argument for adjusting how the rating system works rather than changing downvotes.

Overall I think this needs a deep redesign of the way post reward work

Possibly but sounds risky 😆

Well I am assuming you got plenty of other stuff to do and I talk enough about downvotes I could write you a novel on the topic. I am going to go back to focusing on my community 😅

Good luck with the community development! I am looking forward to seeing future updates!

Thanks ! :) There's also a cultural aspect, this is less of an issue now, but back in the steem days, there was a huge cultural imbalance between koreans and westerners on the way they saw downvotes leading to a lot of downvote wars

Definitely a culture aspect for sure. I see a lot of people on chain do things out of "fairness" and that seems to happen from people in countries with large social safety nets.

A downvote war between westerns and Koreans sounds interesting but also doesn't sound like a lot of fun. People who run studies on social interactions would have a field day on HIVE 😅

Happy Monday!
