How I learned to stay true to yourself

in #development9 years ago

A few months ago I decided to quit my job that I had for the past year and a half. The reason ? It was taking me nowhere and I was about to graduate from my Masters Degree. I couldn't just stay in that place where I was not learning anything new and every day was the same.
So I began searching, going to interviews and trying to learn new things on my own, while having to write my graduation paper. After a series of failed interviews I finally managed to land a job at a dream company, one of the Top 10 in the world.
In the first weeks I was so excited that I could not realize that I was hired just to be part of a marketing/hr plan, with no real purpose there, but after the next months of doing nothing and being mostly isolated from my co-workers I realized what was going on.
I started asking questions and I got back promises with things that are going to happen and I will be included, but those failed to come. I started being depressed, watching all my friends having good jobs and good paychecks, while I was earning little money and on top of that, again I was not learning anything new. I started complaining all the time, being sad all the time, all in all it was a bad way to keep going.
Finally I started to motivate myself, with great effort, to learn new things, attend online courses and trying again to find another job.
Right now I am following some online courses and learning new things really helps me outgrow my depression. Things are beginning to take shape for me.
ALWAYS DO something new, learn things, get involved when you are feeling down. It will definitely help your state of mind and you will be able to better tackle the real things you need to change.
