Everybody is talking about this battle in the cryptoworld and nothing else matters anymore. So, I'm going to talk about it, as well
To understand, you need to imagine the construction of a house.
You have the client (us, the silicon Valley, coinbase and others), the architect (the développers) and the builder (les miners).
So, all this segwit2x mess is a battle between the client and the architect.
The architect wants to keep the control on his piece of work and his vision.
And the client is saying: 'your 300 bedroom house is beautiful but we are 4000 in my family and 100000 extra people are coming'.
So, yes the aim of the client is too cheapen the final bill and to have a beautiful house to make it more valuable.
The architect thinks that the client doesn't understand anything and without him no magnificent and futuristic vision and in the middle you have the building who just wants to be paid.
You mix with a pinch of ego, some millions of dollars and a bitcoin at 7300$ and here we are in the middle of this mess and chaos. But most of the time, nothing positif comes out from chaos. So, I hope they will find a quick and unanimous solution.

I like the way this is put together. It paints a pretty clear picture. The point towards the end regarding finding a quick solution is pivotal in my mind because not doing so could undermine what I think is the main attraction of bitcoin - decentralization. Having an architect (ahem Central Bank) doing something because the Client (the rest of us) doesn't know anything kinda contradicts the point of decentralization. If that mindset were to spread to the "client" it could bring about a change in perceived value.
