Most of the anti-2A people are still denying that Eli Dicken exists. Some of the more disgusting anti-2A people are digging to find a way to turn him into a criminal. Still, I think that a lot of anti-2A people with the slightest bit of integrity are pointing to pro-2A people like me and saying that we're elevating a man bites dog story by talking about him.
Here's the thing... yeah, Eli Dicken is a man bites dog story. He didn't have to kill the would-be mass shooter. He easily could have run away and let the manic do what he wanted to do and kill whoever he wanted to kill. Heroism is rare. Dicken is a hero. One of the reasons why pro-2A people keep bringing him up is because what he did was so important and powerful and the cowards and liars on the other side are trying to ignore or evade that fact.
What's more is that, if you're aware of the data, the use of firearms in self-defense isn't uncommon. If anybody is focusing on man bites dog stories, it's the people who talk about mass shootings all the time. Even if there were a mass shooting every day, which there isn't (not even close), there would still be at least three times as many defensive uses of firearms per year.
