- there are healthy alternatives to pasta like squash, or at least whole-grain. I also heard of a carb-free (algae?) pasta from Japan but I can never remember the name.
- Legumes may be high in fiber, but the othetr half (or more) is starch
- there is also an emphasis on nuts for the good fats. I eat 0.5 cups of sunflower seeds per day

absolutely and i've certainly tried a variety of the alts to pasta, just not a fan. i'm tempted to eat pasta every day, but i've settled on the 2x/month lower bound...
also with you on the seeds and nuts.
