Weiss is a financial rating agency which is in the league of rating giants like Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch and Standard & Poor’. But unlike other rating agencies that were mentioned, Weiss does not accept compensation for rating any financial instrument. It has recently extended its rating services to the world of cryptocurrency.

WEISS rates Bitcoin, Steem and 3 other cryptocurrencies as the safest cryptocurrencies to invest in. The Weiss ratings scale is interpreted as thus
A = excellent, B = good, C = fair, D = weak, E = very weak. In some cases, F grade may also apply which is used for a cryptocurrency that failed or has a severe allegation of fraud against it or the creator.
Weiss has now graded about 79 cryptocurrencies accoording to their overall risk-reward proposition. Weiss uses 4 indexes which measure the following 1. Risk; which is the price volatility 2. The Reward of the coin; this includes absolute and relative performance 3. The Technology behind the coin 4. Fundamentals like the speed of transaction, the scalability issue and acceptance by the developers.
So which of the cryptocurrencies was graded the most?
It is interesting to know that none of the cryptocurrencies earned A grade which simply means that according to Weiss grading, none of them could be said to be safe in the actual sense of it.
They are graded in the following order.
Grade B cryptocurrencies are the following
1. Bitcoin
2. Ripple
3.EOS
4. NEO
5. Steem
Grade B cryptocurrencies are the following
6. Ethereum
7. Litecoin
8. Cardano
9. Stellar
10. IOTA
Bitcoin cash is the only large cryptocurrency by market capitalization that gets ranked as Grade D which means Weak by the Weiss grading standard
Some other lesser known cryptocurrencies to an average investor were ranked in the E category and these include the following
11. Auroracoin
12. Comet
13. Electroneum
14. Expanse
15. Matchpool
16. Megacoin
17. Novacoin
18. Quark
19. SaluS and the likes
Some investors especially those that speculate on these currencies have criticized this rating stating that Weiss is still new to cryptocurrency and so do not have sufficient know how about grading the coins.
