I wasn't aware of the importance of Discord until recently! There is whole world going on, it is like parallel universe, people (steemit users) getting connected, many support groups are formed every day, groups of people with the same interest, many great steemit initiatives started from discord, post promotion groups, voice chats, there is a big traffic and lot going on.
Before Discord it was much harder to connect and start relationships with fellow Steemians, we were convicted to Steemit chat, which very fast became just a post dropping place without any interaction or communication. I am on few discord servers right now and every day I find out about another one, still have a feeling that I am missing a lot.
I think That participation in discord groups can bring you a lot of benefits and that Discord change the way Steemit function. I would like to suggest you if you get invited to some of them to join without second thoughts, it will bring you extra value in your Steemit life.

and through time, you are connected to like....30+ discord steemit servers. Some of them have bigger meaning, some don't (and are made just for fun). The biggest thing I like there, are weekly radio shows, in which you can participate

I've joined Steemit right in time Discord was well known and I don't even know would it be possible to progress so fast with so much quality. I'm in 12-13 groups I think, and yes it help a lot. I arrive helpful information daily and people are really kind and calm.

I am on discord and have a good time there, it takes a lot of my internet balance so I open it for a short while every time. But I can see it's importance in connecting steemit users.
I just wonder.....what will happen when steemit comes out of beta. Will it be a mixture of all the platforms we know with integrated discord chat?
Its possible, this kind of mixture can bring additional value and integrated discord chat would be awesome ;)
I don't know... But Steemit strong point that everything is recorded in the blockchain and there's no "Private Messages". Discord strong point is the opposite, I don't think it'll be a good idea for Steemit to integrate it.
But I think it will be a good idea for steemit to encourage using Discord or other chat applications.

Discord is great! I just started using it, and then I had to leave for a ship, on my call of duty. I am using satellite internet here, and for unknown reason I cannot connect to Discord. Not the application or website. I am quite sad about it, since here I have the time, but no means. Back home I have means, but no time...
Discord and steemit best works together. When you connect actions on both platform and messanger you could get impressive results.
