Steemit Suggestion: Post Templates

in #discussion8 years ago (edited)

One feature that I would really like to see implemented on Steemit is post templates. I'm currently saving a couple of templates on a Google Drive document, but it would be so much handier if they could be saved on Steemit. It would be useful if you were able to save a couple of different templates. Not everyone uses the same style for every post they write and it would save a bunch of time if you could access different post templates on Steemit itself.

One sort of implementation that I can think of would be a sort of basic post management system. Something simple that would allow you to save a couple of posts, so you can use them later on as style templates. I think most of us can agree that Steemit's interface is lacking a couple of features and this is one of them IMO.

I'm not sure if it would be feasible to implement a feature like this. Someone who has more technical knowledge could explain in the comments if it is possible in terms of bandwidth. This post is just meant to get some discussion going, I'm interested in hearing everyone's opinions on this.

Good idea. I usually just save all of my stuff in a Word doc and edit anything from there - like every Monday I participate in a specific one and use some of the same wording at the end. I can see where it would be helpful to have them built in to the server, but there are so many different types, it would be hard to make one for all of them. ;)

There are websites like busy.org and Steemauto.com that enables delayed posting. I think that options will only increase as steemit grows: people will make new front ends and this will give a slicker experience, with choices for customisation.

I'm personally not a fan of the design of Busy (I am a fan of the added functions though). It's just a little bit sad that the flagship Steem interface has so few features compared to these other interfaces;

Like I said, it just takes time. Think having a fairly basic main site will inspire people to create their own interfaces. Quite happy with the steemit.com posting so far.

I posted an article yesterday with pictures side-by-side and text on the right and I had to search for how to do all this. Now I know its fine I suppose but I could have saved a load of time if there was some pre-done templates.

Nice idea @daan, thanks for sharing! I really like the idea of Steemit supporting some kind of template system. At the moment my template management is reduced to have all my Markdown files organized in Boostnote and copying the parts I want to keep consistent from former posts. Templates, like posts, could be handled in a text-only manner. So on first sight, I don't think this should be too much of an issue in regards to bandwidth. That would be one first step in the direction of making the user experience of Steemit more compelling.

Oh I had not heard about Boostnote before, I'm going to try that one out for a while since it supports markdown editing. I'm glad to hear that it wouldn't be too difficult to implement some sort of template system. Thanks for the comment!

I have templates created in Scrivener which is writing software. Wouldn't be without them.
