The Daily Meme #694!

in #distribution10 months ago

So, I've been following the most powerful curator's curation trail for a few days and I've noticed that nearly all of the authors with reps higher than 70 have less than ~2000hp.

image.png

I haven't asked around for the exact math, but by my napkin calculations, if you have a rep in the 50's you should have ~1000hp, if your rep is in the 60's you should have ~7500hp, and if your rep is over 70 you should have a minimum of 15k hp.

These numbers represent minimums.
The actual amount of hp voted to them will be higher.
Any account with less than this has powered down.
To get to those reps at least double that had to be voted to them.

image.png

As far as I am concerned anybody that powers down to sell at these prices doesn't deserve rewards, at this point in the adoption cycle.
The reason for that is that too few people have far too much power in the hive now.
'The community' decisions are made by fewer than 20 accounts.

Unless the newbs power up and help distribute the distribution by voting their hp, hive will centralize and not reach its potential as a worldwide, all encompassing technology.

image.png

Do you like how fiat has been distributed?
Why would you support that same distribution in crypto?
You wouldn't.
Snap out of this hero worship.
A fat wallet is more likely to evidence character flaws than to convey any hero status, imo.

image.png

For those that will plead the impoverished, I ask the question:

'How did they eat all the days before finding favor in the hive?'

image.png

Clearly they have been eating something, or they wouldn't be capable of typing.
Rewarding dumpers lowers the price for everybody else.
The only reason that hive trades for less than 6usd a coin is because more people are dumping than buying.

image.png

Who do you figure are buying those dumped hive?
You?
Don't make me laugh.
Anbody that has been here knows that buying stops at .2usd.
More than that and the power to price ratio is prohibitive.

Those that already have too much are buying them.

That's not all bad.

image.png

BUT, there is a point where no new money will come in because too few people hold too large a percentage of the coins.

Look at xrp.
Who buys into that distribution?
People that can't math.

The same for eth.
Btc is a fee trap for small holders.
All power to the hive!

image.png

The most powerful curation account in the hive is rewarding those dumping what they get.

image.png

I guess there could be a number of different valid reasons for doing that assuming the various viewpoints available.
Maybe the top 20 accounts taking 50% of the rewards intended for all of the rest of us is not a bad thing?

Maybe we will get a direct answer as to why this dumping is being rewarded?
Maybe my day would be better spent at the beach.

You can check my math here: https://hivetasks.com/@freebornsociety
Just look for the 3% votes, hover over the author's link, and a popup will show you how little hp these people being favored by the most powerful curator on the chain actually hold.
They care sooo much about the rest of us they hurry up to dump what is voted to them.

Are you are tired of paying your masters to bomb children in far away places?
Perhaps it is time you pushed back on that.
A simple way that anybody can do that is to hoard your coins.
A dollar of change in your pocket is a dollar of value out of the banksters' pockets that force us to pay them so they can play in the amusement parks from hell and shop in the human grocery stores.
'Aint that fresh?'

Metal in your own possession will always have more intrinsic value than digits on a bankster's ledger.

I think I need a consultant for handling my wallet. I never look into it, actually. Just now, when I read your posting. I need to power up with what there is to make a power up, right. How would you know if I never powered down or up, actually? Since I left Steemit and do not take any tool to observe single transactions in voting and other behaviors I totally lost track. Sometimes I find this self chosen intransparency state of being quite useful.
What is it with discord? You moved away from it?
Bummer, I just thought to join you there.

On peakd there is a yellow and red box with a black blob in it, that is chat, it works nearly as well as discord, but it is private, no corporate overlords listening in.
I'm still active on discord, if you wanted to dm me there.

Records of powerups/downs are in the chain, peakd has a filter for them.

Yes, please powerup everything you can afford to powerup, the more you take from the pool the less centralized the governance.
Voting authors you support is the second half of powering up, it gets you 9% on top of the 3% staking rewards.
For a total of 12%.

Your hbd is safer in savings due to the three day lock, and it pays 20%, so I would sure recommend that move.

Thank you.

Must I be ashamed to say that I am a dinosaur in using still the official Hive frontend? I remember I was about to make the move to proofofbrain and later verifiyourbrain (or something like that) but then for some reason I stopped blogging there and also on Hive or did it with less frequency. So, I am hesitating to change to peakd because I don't like the dark design of it (don't laugh). HaHa!

So, you are saying that I shall power up my savings, right? I am realizing how immobile I became in handling the wallet since I stopped observing the market. Which was fun back in the Steemit days.

If discord is "listening" I maybe will think more about to dm you. Not that I have anything specific in mind. LOL :D

Yes, the hive is better powered up due to the dilution of the inflation.
Pob and vyb are nearly ded.
They still function, but the crowd in the hive is too small to split into active subcategories.
Excepting those that buy their friends with votes powered by the ninjamine.

All corporate services come with your data being sold to others, it's how they monetize a 'free' service.

It's not the I don't know that. It's only different when you hear someone saying it. :D

True. No masses here.

Yes, until something impacts one personally it is an abstract idea.
The scientologists call it 'getting mass' on the subject.
They make the preclears use models to model ideas to increase the mass.
Seemed kinda ephemeral to me, but it does work.

What do they call "getting mass" on the subject? To get you thinking about abstract ideas?

what is "preclears"? Why is it ephemeral for you?

LOL, I guess you have to explain your comment to me. Sometimes it's very painful to be a non native English speaker. HaHa!

I have a 70 rep and just a little over 17K hive power. I also have some in HBD though. I've never powered down and I have bought small quantities from time to time. However, I don't pay much attention to what the authors I vote for do with their hive. I just vote for the content I like. For me that's the only way hive works...at least the social media aspect of it. But then I'm not one of the largest holders either.

It is my understanding that to go from 70 to 71 takes 10x what it took to get to 70.
From 71 to 72 the same 10x.
Getting to 80 takes many powerful votes.

I understand the urge to be a 'normie' user, but somebody has to pay attention to what is happening around us.
It's why hivewatchers has to be a thing.
'Normie' curators won't check to see if they are getting scammed, they just vote what makes them happy.

I suggest that the same is needed for dumpers.
The people dumping are the people preventing the price from rising.
This behavior harms those not dumping by devaluing hive in the marketplace.

71 rep with 25hp?!? That’s awful.
What is that… suspicious account… must have “interesting” comments and replies… 🐝

Go to hivetasks.com/@freebornsociety, hover your cursor over author names on the 3% votes, and you will see how many people over 70 have dumped nearly everything that has been given to them.
It is not rare, it is most of the votes given by the biggest curation account in the hive.

IF we all just piss it away hive goes to zero.
Why would we support people doing that unless we want hive to stay underpriced?
The people buying that dumped hive already have too much.
The power is centralizing because we, as a community, tolerate those that vote rewards to those that dump.

I now have a 69 rep (used to be higher...) and only about 50 Hive (used to be over 250k) but I sold the lot because I was sick of being downvoted. Glad I did, made shitloads!

So, buy back in and vote rewards to the people not getting upvoted by their excellencies?

Hmm
You may be right but I think those reputations work based on how you post and engage
For example, my HP is less than 500 and my rep is 60

Rep is a function of who votes you with how large a vote.
Pure money and popularity.
Lots of smaller votes still don't equal one large vote.
The reputations system is worthless outside showing if you are invested in the tech, or not.
