After years of preparation, Disney has called it the future of the company, named as Disney Plus. It's the entertainment giant's streaming service for almost everything it creates, taking on Netflix as well as an emerging crop of rivals that includes Apple TV Plus and HBO Max.
Disney Plus officially launched early Tuesday in the US, Canada and the Netherlands. Despite glitches and service outages on day one, the launch was a big success by at least one metric: sign-ups. Disney Plus surpassed 10 million subscribers, the company said the day after launching. By comparison, HBO Now took nearly three years to reach half that level.
