What type of sick person do you have to be to make yourself seem heroic in a tragedy? It's not even about boasting or retelling the tale of heroism. This is everything that is wrong with people's desire of their "15 minutes" of fame.

David Briscoe didn't even work at the Santa Fe High School. Yet, he decided that it was appropriate to fabricate stories of how he helped to save the students. For what? This is some Craig Wright level nonsense right there.

This also goes to show that social media is a poor venue to gather sound information. We all know of the "fake news" memes. Some think it's funny. Some think it's Trump being dramatic (which he is a lot of times). Here we are, someone made false claims and the fake news train started rolling.

It's also not some small, independent, news organizations that got duped. Time and CNN both fell for the imaginary stories. How can we have quality news reporting without effective and efficient fact checking?

What does it say about the system when we come back a year later to find that we were completely and utterly wrong?
