The modern world is characterized by a great deal of visual information. In addition to the widespread use of cell phones, which has incorporated the camera, there is also the proliferation of security cameras, which leads to many of the things that happen in public places (and also in private environments) are recorded.
The most shocking images and videos then tend to spread very quickly among the consuming public, but as quickly as they arrive they leave and there is rarely room for critical reflection on what has been seen.
This blog will share videos and images that for one reason or another cause some impact and seek through them to reflect on human behavior in today's society.
This time the video is from a security camera located in an underground train station in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The event took place yesterday.
Several people can be seen there awaiting the arrival of the formation when suddenly a young man faints and falls forward involuntarily pushing a lady. This lady falls to the tracks and loses consciousness, just as the train was arriving.
The reaction of those present was to signal the train driver to brake, and fortunately she was able to apply the brakes and stop the train in time. The woman saved her life in this way.
But when I saw the images I was struck by the fact that none of the adults present jumped onto the tracks to rescue the woman. Even though the train was slowing down, it was difficult to predict whether it would be able to stop in time. The inertia could well have caused it to run over the woman who had lost consciousness at a very low speed.
Only when the train stopped completely did some jump on the tracks, but why didn't they do it before, when they could see the train slowing down? Then they were not in danger, anyone could have jumped on the tracks and dragged the woman away from danger. Even if two jumped, they would have had time to lift her up and get away from the train that was moving more and more slowly.
However, all present left the woman to her own fate; they merely gestured to the engineer and observed.

A la masificación del uso del celular que ha incorporado la cámara, se le suma la proliferación de cámaras de seguridad, lo que lleva a que muchas de las cosas que suceden en lugares públicos (y también en ambientes privados) queden registradas.
Las imágenes y vídeos más impactantes suelen entonces difundirse de manera muy rápida entre el público que las consume, pero tan rápido como llegan se van y rara vez hay espacio para una reflexión crítica acerca de lo que se ha visto.
En este blog se compartirán vídeos e imágenes que por una u otra razón causan cierto impacto y se buscará a través de ellos reflexionar sobre el comportamiento del ser humano en la sociedad actual.
En esta oportunidad el video que es de una cámara de seguridad ubicada en una estación de tren subterráneo en Buenos Aires, Argentina. El suceso tuvo lugar ayer.
Puede verse allí a varias personas aguardando la llegada de la formación cuando de pronto un joven sufre un desmayo y cae hacia adelante empujando involuntariamente a una señora. Esta señora cae a las vías y pierde el conocimiento, justo cuando el tren estaba llegando.
La reacción de los presentes fue hacerle señas a la maquinista para que frenara y, afortunadamente pudo accionar los frenos y detener el tren a tiempo. La mujer salvó así su vida.
Pero cuando vi las imágenes me llamó la atención que ninguno de los adultos presentes saltara a las vías para rescatar a la mujer. Y es que aunque el tren estaba aminorando su marcha, era difícil prever si lograría detenerse a tiempo. La inercia bien podría haber hecho que arrollara a la mujer que había perdido el sentido a muy baja velocidad.
Recién cuando el tren detuvo totalmente la marcha algunos saltaron a las vías, pero ¿por qué no lo hicieron antes, cuando pudieron observar que el tren iba disminuyendo su marcha? Entonces no corrían peligro, cualquier hubiera podido saltar a las vías y arrastrar a la mujer alejándola del peligro. Incluso si saltaban dos hubieran tenido tiempo para alzarla y alejarse del tren que cada vez más lentamente avanzaba.
Sin embargo, todos los presentes dejaron a la mujer librada a su propia suerte; se limitaron a hacerle gestos a la maquinista y a observar.

Vi la noticia ayer y pensé lo mismo. ¿Cómo es que de todos los que estaban ahí nadie saltó a la vía para sacar a la señora o para desplazarla hacia un lugar más seguro?
Todos se limitaron a observar, gesticular y rezar.
Pero bueno, puede ser también que intimide ver el tren acercándose y en el momento acaso la situación te paralice.
