What Are Cookies? What is a Cookie?
Cookies are small files which are stored on a user's computer. They are designed to hold a modest amount of data specific to a particular client and website, and can be accessed either by the web server or the client computer. This allows the server to deliver a page tailored to a particular user, or the page itself can contain some script which is aware of the data in the cookie and so is able to carry information from one visit to the website (or related site) to the next.

Cookies are also used for the purpose of data science gathering. Ad providers will use them to track where you go on a web page and where you go to next, and what also you tend to spend the most time on that way they can maximize potentials. Cookies also have their flaws, and that is where they can be used to store things like user credentials. A semi-common attack is where you replace your cookie with someone else cookie, and now you are that user. The more you know.
In the past I have commented a little bit on cyber security, I can possibly do some posts on it if you want.
