A well bred American Staffordshire Terrier should encompass all of the items outlined in the breed standard as well as the ability to perform the original function of the breed to the best of their ability. Structure, temperament, health and athleticism must all be present in top form. No single item should stand out. Balance is the key. Steer clear of those that hype up one part of the dog over others. Sales pitches that emphasize head or bone above balance and moderation are a dead giveaway that the breeder is selling into fads and not producing dogs for the betterment of the breed.
