For most of us, pets are like our own children. We really care for our pets as much as we can. Whether you have cats or dogs, it can be very difficult to manage if you can't understand your pet's language. Is there any such thing? For sure, animals communicate with humans in their specific styles.

When your dog wants to potty, he will scratch the door. If he wants to express his love, he will use his tongue on you to show that he missed you so much. As for the cat, sleeping around you means that she feels secure around you and consider you the most trusted guy. When your cat is hungry, she will be meow countless times in front of you. But if you're a good owner, you should dictate his eating schedule, instead of letting your cat asking for breakfast/lunch/dinner.

But forget about cats, we are discussing dogs today. It can be really distressing if your dog is not eating anything. Some people assume that he's not feeling hungry but that's not true. He may be hungry but there could be many reasons why he is not eating. In this article, we'll discuss some of them.

1 - Unfamiliar with a new location

Whether you just bought a new pet or have had it for a long time, surroundings affect the dogs more than anything else. Maybe you just moved to a new house? Perhaps you are on a trip and your dog is not showing any kind of interest towards the food? Then its surroundings are most likely the issue.

The best solution is to get your dog in a room and bring some people with whom your dog is familiar, then offer him the food. He will start feeling familiar with a new room. If that doesn't solve your problem, then the reason may be different.

2 - Dental disease or mouth pain

Some owners are completely familiar with the behavior of their pets yet there are some who are quite unfamiliar either because of being new or something else. Dogs are not supposed to give any special signal if they are going through dental disease or mouth pain, but they will give a small indication. How?

Refusing to eat is a small indication that your dog is probably going through mouth pain. The best solution is to get a vet and let him deal with the situation. Don't delay it as not eating food will weaken your dog's health.

3 - Illness

If it's not about any kind of dental disease, it can be caused by illness. Your dog may be suffering from fever. But such things are easy to guess since your dog will reduce his activities if he is ill. He is not likely to play with you nor will show any kind of interest towards food. So I suppose that every owner can decide whether his dog is not eating because of no hunger or fever. Even in this case, the best solution is to get him to the specialist asap.

Agree...these things happen in humans as well...many humans feel uncomfortable in a new places unless and untill they dont see some familiar faces...and similarly, during ilness and toothpain no one is comfortable..to eat. The bonding of dogs and humans are undoubtally the best one can have

Poor babies, what breed is the 3rd dog down - Illness?

That's how I know my dogs healthy.. he always wants to eat. Except for when his mommas gone

My candid advice as a vet is that whenever dogs are not eating always endeavour to see a vet. Anorexia is different from inappentence. Most anorexia are due to disease. Inappentence could be due to change in diet.
