Very good news is that the feeding of cats is spreading!
The bad news is that unfortunately there is hardly any accurate description of how to feed cats. Therefore, based on my own experience and after a lot of research work, this little summary on how to feed cats has been written (there are recipes in the end!?)
The transition:
Cats are carnivores. Thanks to their short, straight and extremely acidic digestive system, they digest raw meat, bones and offal without any problems. However, usually with older indoor cats, they may refuse to eat raw food. Here are a few ways to try:
- We cook the meat, if you accept it without problems, we cook less and less, in the end we just scald the meat and after chilling we can add it
- If you have always eaten dry food, you can insert a can of high meat content temporarily
- In the case of very stubborn cats, it may also be helpful to lose the food if you do not touch it and try again at the next feeding time. If he is very hungry, he will eat it, but I emphasize this can be risky. Cats should under no circumstances be starved for more than 36 hours because when the cat does not eat the liver accumulates fat (fatty liver), its function is abnormal, ceases to function or can be fatal.
This conversion can last from 3 seconds to 1 year, but it is definitely worth it! It is imperative that you consult a veterinarian before converting sick kidneys to a raw diet!
Kitten BARF Basics:
Puppy Cat:
- They get 6-10% of their body weight
- There is no need for special training, they immediately and instinctively eat the raw
- They need to be fed every 4-6 hours
- The bone is important!
Adult cats:
- They get 2-4% of their body weight
- Gradual re-training may be required
ratios:
- 80% muscle meat
- 10% boned meat
- 5-10% offal, half liver be
- Kitty grass, wheat grass, zöldpacal because of the fibers, essential for healthy digestion
- Supplements: It is imperative to pay attention to this, taurine, vitamin B complex, vitamin E and omega3 should be added to their diet, otherwise serious deficiency disorders can occur!
- Hen eggs can be given once a week, quail every day.
DIVERSITY is key, try to be as varied as possible, feed on different animals, don't get stuck with one breed, your cat will love it!
Recipes:
1. Barf menu with lamb
Ingredients (for about 15 daily * doses)
- 2 kg minced lamb steak
- 200g chicken liver
- 400g chicken heart (replaceable with 4g Taurin)
- 4 yolk
- 2g Taurin Paste
- 1 pump (4ml) Henne Kronch Salmon Oil
- Taste green grass paste
Preparation:
The ingredients are thoroughly processed, the daily dose is filled in plastic cups and frozen (yes, you can freeze it again!). Thaw in refrigerator before use.
Cost: $ 10
- Calculated at 200g / day
2. Rabbit Barf Menu
Ingredients (for about 15 daily * doses):
- 2 kg minced rabbit meat with bone in
- 200g chicken liver
- 400g chicken heart
- 12 quail
- 2g taurine paste
- 1 pump (4ml) Henne Kronch Salmon Oil
- Taste green grass paste
Preparation:
The ingredients are thoroughly processed, the daily dose is filled in plastic cups and frozen (yes, you can freeze it again!). Thaw in refrigerator before use.
Cost: Approx

3. Beef Barf Menu
Ingredients (for about 15 daily * doses):
- 2 kg Beef chicken mixR
- 250g Beef Mix
- 400g beef heart
- 4 egg yolks
- 2g taurine paste
- 4 ml Henne Kronch Salmon Oil
- Taste green grass paste
Preparation:
The ingredients are thoroughly processed, the daily dose is filled in plastic cups and frozen (yes, you can freeze it again!). Thaw in refrigerator before use.
Cost: Approx

As a comparison:
In all recipes we get a total mass of 3 kg, which ranges from 3000 to 5000 HUF, which means that a monthly meal costs between 6000 and 10 000 HUF (it can be much cheaper if we grind the boned meat ourselves). On the other hand, one of the very popular premium cat food companies offers a 12x85g alcat meal containing 40% chicken meat, and we pay around 19450 Ft a month if you eat only two packages a day! Dry feed from the same brand (with 65% meat content, which is still not too much, plus meat meal ...) comes to $ 17,370 a month.

had to upvote this because it had "barf" in the title and was in the pets section! I can't say that I would do this for my cat (and the fact that i don't have one is a pretty good reason also) but it seems like you probably have some pretty happy kitties there!
Xd well that is an acronym for Biologically Apropriate Raw Food. However the dogs and the cats just love it and this diet dramatically decreases the possibility of modern pet diseases like diabetes, obesity, food allergies and so on....
