The children not knowing doesn't surprise me that much but I would of expected most of the parents to know of such things I guess it is indeed a lack of education.

well one thing to understand about where it is that we live is that it is one of the areas with a large Muslim population in Thailand, one of the few. So it might not be a case of intentional ignorance in a lot of situations but rather that dogs are an irrelevant part of their lives and they do not matter. I'm not trying to single out a religion here but there are Muslims that I know in the are who are forbidden (by their faith) from even touching dogs, let alone helping them.
