RE: Which Foreign Language would you like to learn?

  • Japanese

Why? Aside from I like the Japanese culture, we (Hungarian and Japanese) have so many similarities:

  • We use the eastern name order (family name first, then personal name).
  • We use the same date format (Year-Month-Day) (2019.04.30).
  • We write the addresses similarly (from the largest unit to the smallest).
  • The word order is basically the same (SOV) (Subject-object-verb). The Hungarian word order is flexible. We sometimes also use the SVO (Subject-verb-object) and OVS (Object-verb-subject) word order, but the most common is the SOV (Subject-object-verb) word order.
  • Same usage of the genitive case.
  • Both of the languages are originates from Asia.
  • Both of the languages are agglutinative languages.
  • The Old Hungarian and the Katakana, Hiragana writing systems are somewhat similar in appearance. As a Hungarian, if you know the Old Hungarian writing system, it is easier to learn Katakana and Hiragana.
  • And probably many other similarities that I do not know.

Maybe it is not so foreign after all.
