Complex password are for your own account's safety.
Everyone should use complex passwords, and not easily crackable ones.
I think that mostly the selfishness and the greed of the majority of the users are hampering the mass adoption of Steem.
The general attitude of the majority of the users is to focus on the money earning opportunity, and not on the social side of the platform. And even the slightest short term price movement can affect most of the users. These are not so attractive, are they?
