Drone enthusiasts will face new restrictions in the UK after the British government announced plans to usher in a new series of regulations, including registration of any drone weighing over 250 grams and forcing owners to undertake a health-and-safety course.

The UK governments press release states that applicants may be able to register online through the internet or with the use of online applications. The special test will be designed to ensure that owners understand, amongst other things, regulations in the areas of:
- safety
- security
- privacy
One of the reason the government has given for the need for a test is that research indicates that small drones could damage the windscreens of helicopters, and larger drones, weighing in the region of 2 kilograms have the potential to damage an airliner's windscreen.
No mention is made of drones causing damage by being sucked into an airliners engines, although that may be included in the consultation documentation below.
Here's the existing drone code:

The first document is quite interesting. It describes what drones are and the different types and present and future uses with real life examples.

nice post, i am upvote and follow you :)
I expect a whole new line of sub 250 gram drones. Toronto has the pretty much the same rules. Too bad the DJI Spark is 300g, just 50 grams over.
