Hey, @davemccoy.
So, now it takes a mistake to get a post out of you, does it? :)
I see you're now working drugwars. I may never see you again if you quit making mistakes.
I was remembering fondly a couple of days ago when you would post something and basically everyone would just hang out on your post for a couple of hours (or longer). Those days don't come back.
Well, I quite reminiscing and let you go back to whatever part of the STEEM platform you're occupying at present. Thanks for hitting the wrong button. :)
well I have some ideas in my head, but never find the time to write the post :P ... And don't worry, I will still be around, right now getting up near the top was important on drugwars so I had a chance of doing something meaningful there. But I would imagine the time needed in the future will be a ton less.
And yes those were the good old days... I know many are still around, just not reading posts on steemit like they did. I do think it might come back one day, especially when the votes cast a vote value that makes them feel like they are helping people. I have seen it already in friendofgondor... the vote values went up enough to make them notice, and now all the sudden we are getting more posts. I don't know if its even consciously or not, but my guess is we have a solid core of people here and one day everyone might get active again!
And thanks for replying to me hitting the wrong button... I do really hate it though because I feel like people feel like they wasted their votes :P
I hope all is well and its spring there, we are finally getting some short sleeve and shorts weather here in our mountains!
Hey, @davemccoy.
We've been swerving in out of spring here, for a couple of weeks now. Okay, not really swerving—it's basically how it works. We'll have a week or so of nice weather, temperatures up, rainfall less, and then the temps drop ten or so degrees and the clouds and precipitation come back. We'll probably be doing this through April and a little bit into May, with the sunshine eventually winning out for a while, if we're lucky.
re: might get active
Maybe. I guess it depends on what else is going on the chain when that day arrives. We used to only contend with people dropping off completely, or curbing there time on the blogging end of things. Now, it's not only that, but people splitting time, or taking all their available time to do other things, predominantly gaming. The base is pretty fractured, I would say. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as you can build from there.
Every time a new dApp shows up, there will be another splitting. Hopefully, we'll get an influx of people, too, or we'll be microcommunities spread around the width and breadth of STEEM.
We had very up and down weather too, but nothing like yours... But the last week its finally leveled off and its been cool out. We even have the bugs coming out, I've seen the spiders and wasps along with some blooms on different flowers. So in our case, I think winter is gone and now it will just get hotter as the days go on... (good to a point, then I'll wish for those cold days again) :P
And I do agree that gaming is a big part of steem right now.. if you look on the Dapp rankings, steemit doesn't even come in number 1... I do think that's healthy but I definitely agree with your point, we need more people. I think its a tough and diehard crowd that still exists, but I frankly see very few new people anymore. I think it more of a function of the fact that they restricted what can be done, than anything else. Its just my opinion, but I don't think anyone in their right mind would come back and make 3 comments a day and wrap it up. If they like it, they will want to do far more... and if they don't like being restricted, then they leave quickly.
The cool thing is the games don't require much, so at least both games I play (steemmonsters and drugwars) don't require much if any steem at all.
Always good to chat with you and if you haven't checked out the new steem-engine app then you might like that... people can make their own tokens and they can move back and forth, not quite the same as SMTs, but at least its getting people thinking of what can be done with them.
I sentence you to 100 lashes.😈
