This track came to me during my Final Fantasy XI days, with the majority of my life playing this MMORPG, the music inspired me a lot. I was looking to see if I could create something as easy to listen to and memorable as the music of FFXI or previous Final Fantasy games.
The composer of most Final Fantasy games - Nobuo Uematsu was always something of a hero to me, an extremely prolific yet consistent composer with barley a song I didn't enjoy. One day I was listening to his solo album Phantasmagoria, and that was the inspiration trigger that had me form this track.
Trying to be like Uematsu was a challenge for me, not because the music was particularly hard to create, but precisely because it was so simple. I naturally lean towards complex, cacophonous music, and it has always been difficult for me to strip things down to their core components. I feel this is possibly one of the first examples of me completing a nice, simple tune.
It loops as any Final Fantasy soundtrack would, so it could be listened to as you explore a world for hours at a time. I was inspired to create a whole album but as usual I never committed because I'm lazy and noncommittal to anything I start. But maybe I should now?
