On the Experience of Ascension [Original Composition for Orchestra]

in #dsound8 years ago (edited)

Here's an orchestral work I wrote after seeing Brad Mehldau play a live solo session in Amsterdam.
This composition is a work that has a slow, methodical nature to the way it progresses.
The process of writing it took me a couple hours a day for nearly a month until it was complete.
What you are about to hear is an excerpt that begins near the climax of the piece.

May the Frisson Flow!

Is classical music still relevant?! Feel free to comment below and report on what it made you feel!

Just had some time to listen to this today. It's very beautiful! I would love to hear the whole piece. I will always love classical music since I played lots while taking piano growing up and playing the flute in the band thru high school. After that I got to enjoy lots more live classical performances with my son and daughter both playing piano and also trombone/flute during high school band concert season! Classical music lets your mind just concentrate on the instruments and sounds since there aren't any vocals. Anyway, yes I think classical music will always be relevant!

it appeares to be so hard sometimes...
but it's worth it! it's like from Heaven...
so tender and magnifiscent..
and dynamic open its deep power in the end.
