Not a Libertarian, actually apolitical myself though I am a former precinct Captain for the Democratic Party. Now just independent. Also, like you sir, I am a former combat Marine Veteran (Panama, first Gulf War).
Your video and I think the point you are trying to make is outstanding. So called peace lovers do get violent at times when folks disagree with their world outlook, not all, but many.

Shame on these people. The second amendment is an essential safeguard of our freedom. People have the right and the duty to defend themselves, their families and neighbors from both tyranny and violent criminals. Taking away gun rights simply leaves law abiding citizens defenseless while criminals remain just as dangerous as before. The only difference is that the people can no longer protect their freedoms. The demonization of rifles is also due to an attack by the media. The vast majority of gun deaths are not from semi automatic rifles, but from handguns in urban areas.
I believe that many folks really do not get the second amendment to the constitution, because they do not read the complete text:

The first part is the reason for the amendment... to provide for a well regulated militia. The second portion is how to provide for a militia. This was the original intent of the 2d Amendment.
