Cats are clean, cute and friendly sometimes, even if they are homeless, they are not always feral. Homeless, feral and stray cats are everywhere that people are in Egypt. On the streets, where they have adapted, in some places, not in small numbers, but in huge cat colonies, they rid the place of rats and mice. This is good for hygiene.
As you will see from this video, homeless cats can be friendly, they can be cute, they can be funny and if treated right as kittens they can grow to be like pets that don’t need a keeper! This is the way they’ve always been in Egypt. This is the way some are now.
Cat overpopulation is a problem. In Cairo there are millions of stray cats. In some places there is not anyway that any solution that can feasibly control cat overpopulation. Some cats have adapted to survive on ANYTHING they can find: Have you ever seen a cat eat whole chicken bones and all until there is nothing left! Smokey was living on a diet of chicken and fish bones until we stepped in.
