In this report, I cover the early market action from London on Thursday, January 3rd, 2019.
Today I talk about my time in the City of London as a futures and options broker and in particular how I had to be at my desk very early in the morning to cover the markets. In the early days of floor trading, the markets did not trade on a 24-hour basis but then with the development of electronic trading the futures markets evolved into virtually a non-stop market.
As there is a great deal going on not only in the stock market today I have focused the second part of this report on my market update and I have focused on the foreign exchange market. The major FX markets and especially the $/Yen pair have witnessed an unusual level of volatility. My conclusion is that the volatility in the FX market and is pointing to major cracks in the world's financial and monetary system.
