What happens when you pour 1000° degree molten Zinc onto a piece of wood?

This was an experiment that did a while back with a buddy of ours, Doug Booher. We melted Zinc to it's liquid state (around 1000°) and then poured it into the crevices of 200 year old piece of reclaimed Oak. We think it turned out pretty awesome! What do you think? really cool..... I do fractal imaging on some of my stuff so I will have to get all that equipment out and make a video for here......

What a cool idea. This is what makes steemit great. New points of view . I didn't realise you could melt zinc . I have heard of using epoxy but that opens up a whole new range of possibilities.

Yeah it was a fun experiment! Thanks for the comment.

Did you guys do this for the look, or to help hold it together or both? Either way it was a cool.

Not really to hold it together, more so because we had had a few beers and wanted to do something cool and creative. Glad you like it!
